Infrastructure Project Manager Job Description:

The requirement exists for a technical project manager to be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of a number of technical projects within the technology function. Technical projects include application upgrades and infrastructure build and delivery.

The successful candidate will develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allocation of resources. Formulates scope and objectives of the project and is delivery focused. Directs the activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget. Prepares project status reports and keeps all stakeholders informed of status and related issues.

Key responsibilities:

  • Initiation of projects, work breakdown structure and project planning
  • Identification and allocation of resources required for the project
  • Project scope definition, planning and execution management
  • Project Resource management including vendor resource and deliverables
  • Scope management, issue management, risk management
  • Management of the project plan and progress to plan
  • Communication amp; reporting of projects to stakeholders, business users and all related parties
  • To ensure that the relevant project documentation is produced in accordance with the required quality as prescribed by project delivery framework
  • Able to work closely with both technical teams

Core competencies required:

  • Strong technical understanding of MS technologies, networks and infrastructure
  • Delivery focused with a track record of solid technical project delivery
  • The ability to work across projects and project boundaries in order to deliver a successful project

Skills and experience:

Qualifying criteria:

  • Minimum five years’ experience as a technical project manager
  • Relevant working experience in an investment administration or financial environment preferred
  • Tertiary qualification and / or accredited project management qualification
  • Skilled in MS Project or other planning tools
