Main responsibilities
The function includes (but is not limited to):

  • Monthly payroll processing – beginning to end for employees (currently +-1 025)
  • New hire processing including collation of new hire starter packs
  • Termination processing including leave pay calculation
  • Medical aid and RA administration and reconciliation
  • All other payroll capturing and processing including overtime, commission, education trust benefit, voucher processing, etc.
  • Prepare all third party payments and reconciliations relating to payroll activities
  • Fixed tax payroll – temps and non-exec payments
  • Administrating long service awards
  • Contract preparation
  • Prepare employment contracts for new recruits
  • Prepare role change and salary increase letters
  • Prepare confirmation of employment letters
  • Reporting
  • Monthly/quarterly reporting CFO
  • Preparation of staff information to CFO
  • Adhoc reports to managers as required
  • BEE reporting
  • Prepare IRP5 reconciliation and submission to SARS (bi-annual and annual)
  • Monthly validation runs
  • Prepare and submit annual COID return
  • Prepare and submit quarterly STATS SA employment statistics returns
  • Monthly UIF declaration and UI19 forms for staff
  • Adhoc SARS queries
  • Annual budget preparation on staff numbers and staff salary costs
  • Annual salary and performance bonus reviews
  • Prepare the file for Exco and people operations
  • Financial year end
  • Audit schedules on all payroll earnings and staff numbers
  • Assist the team with ad-hoc projects
  • Run with projects such as processing improvements within the payroll space
  • General assistance to the team as required

 

Requirements

  • Bcom, BTech or similar
  • Tax knowledge on payroll processing is essential
  • BCEA knowledge is advantageous
  • Must have experience in payroll processing and administration – minimum three years
  • Must have knowledge of HR and payroll processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
